Celebrating Three Years of Impact: Borg & Overström and Made Blue Foundation

5 Minuten Lesezeit

World Water Day 2026 marks an important milestone for Borg & Overström. This year celebrates three years of partnership with the Made Blue Foundation, a collaboration that has helped provide over 65 million litres of clean drinking water to communities in need around the world.

Water is at the heart of everything we do. While Borg & Overström systems deliver premium filtered water in workplaces and hospitality settings across the globe, our partnership with Made Blue ensures that access to safe drinking water extends far beyond the environments where our dispensers and hot taps are installed.

Who Are the Made Blue Foundation?

The Made Blue Foundation is an international organisation dedicated to improving access to clean drinking water in water-stressed regions. By partnering with businesses, Made Blue helps fund carefully managed water projects that provide sustainable access to safe water in communities where it is not readily available.

Their projects support a range of initiatives, including:

  • Constructing and restoring water infrastructure
  • Installing safe drinking water systems in schools and communities
  • Protecting and maintaining local water sources
  • Ensuring long-term access through local training and management

Importantly, Made Blue verifies and tracks the impact of every project to ensure that the promised water volumes are delivered to the communities that need them most.

Turning An Everyday Glass of Water into Global Impact

At Borg & Overström, sustainability is not just about reducing waste or improving efficiency, it also means creating positive global impact.

Through our Made Blue partnership, every Borg & Overström dispenser installed by a Made Blue partner contributes the equivalent of 19,000 litres of clean drinking water to communities facing water scarcity. This means that every installation not only improves water quality and sustainability in the workplace but also helps provide safe drinking water elsewhere in the world.

With thousands of dispensers installed globally, the collective impact continues to grow, thanks to the support of our Made Blue distribution partners.
65 Million Litres and Counting

Since the partnership began three years ago, Borg & Overström has donated over 65 million litres of clean water through the Made Blue Foundation. While the number itself is impressive, its real-world impact becomes even clearer when put into perspective.

65 million litres of water is equivalent to:

  • Around 26 Olympic-size swimming pools
  • Ten years’ worth of safe drinking water for approximately 889 people.
  • If 65 million 1 litre bottles of water were placed end-to-end, they would stretch around 19,500 kilometres, roughly the distance from London to Sydney.

These figures highlight how collective action through everyday drinking water solutions can generate meaningful change on a global scale.

World Water Day 2026: A Reminder of Why Water Equality Matters

World Water Day is an annual global event dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of water resources. The message behind World Water Day 2026 focuses strongly on water equality and the urgent need to ensure safe drinking water for everyone, everywhere.

Despite water being one of life’s most fundamental resources, access is still far from universal. Today:

  • Billions of people worldwide still lack reliable access to safe drinking water.
  • Millions of women and children spend hours each day collecting water, often walking long distances to reach the nearest safe source.
  • Unsafe water and poor sanitation remain leading causes of preventable disease in many regions

Access to clean water has a profound ripple effect. It improves public health, supports education, empowers communities, and helps create the conditions needed for sustainable development.

Partnerships between businesses and organisations like the Made Blue Foundation play an important role in accelerating progress. By linking everyday water consumption with meaningful global action, companies can help bridge the gap between water abundance and water scarcity.

As we mark World Water Day 2026, Borg & Overström is proud to continue supporting initiatives that make clean water more accessible worldwide. With every dispenser installed and every litre donated, we move one step closer to a future where access to safe drinking water is a reality
for all.
