Technical Instruction 0303 - E4 Model Range - Compressor Immobilisation

Technical Instructions
No. TI 0303
Title TI 0303 - E4 Model Range - Compressor Immobilisation
Revision 03

Procedure to immobilise compressor through disconnection from power board to prevent potential overheat scenario. This procedure must be carried out by a technically competent person.

  1. This procedure, with regards to the following points, covers

    a) Safety (Fire) – The risk is removed. (No compressor current draw).

    b) Health (Hygiene) – No direct implication, except for with no refrigeration, any stored water can ordinarily be expected to naturally deteriorate quicker at ambient temperature than at lower, refrigerated temperatures, applying to only the chilled and sparkling water options. Therefore, to mitigate, the following is recommended -i) Chilled water option: Daily 1lt flush (Switch the unit off and on again to activate the Chilled water button).
ii) Sparkling water option: Daily 1lt flush

    c) CE Certification – No impact

    d) Fault Alarms – For all units with HMI/Control Board rev versions –
    i) Issue 01- 03: Compressor timeout alarm will trigger and alert after 90mins with red fault indicator, flashing off 4x, in a continuously recurring cycle on panel.
While showing this fault alert, the Ambient button control will continue to operate normally. The Sparkling button will also continue to operate however the water dispensed will be ambient temperature. The Chilled button function will be immobilised but will be restored if the main power switch on the back panel is switched off/on. As the Chilled function will be ambient water, this reset function is only required when carrying out a routine flush. (Applies to models with serial number range 2305xx – 2309xx nominally.)
ii) Issue 04 and above: No impact (Models with serial number range 2310xx and onwards.)

    e) Fan – The 24v fan can be disconnected by removing its plug from the power board.

  2. Tools required are the usual engineer/technician type, as used for routine maintenance.

  3. Implementation Procedure:

    a) Turn the main switch on the back panel to the off position and disconnect the power supply cord.

    b) Remove the top panel.

    c) Disconnect the CCB link wire from the Main Control PCB connector.

    d) Disconnect the Live and Neutral cores from the compressor terminal block on the compressor control board and secure them to avoid contact with live circuits, insulating them if deemed necessary.

    e)
    – Refit the top cover
    – Reconnect the power cord
    – Turn on the switch on the back panel of the unit
    – Test operation
