At Borg & Overström quality assurance is something we take extremely seriously. We pride ourselves in delivering extremely reliable and expertly finished products, that last through years of use and are at home in the most premium of locations.
This video will take you through every quality step we take, explain how these help us, and most of all, how you, our distribution partners benefit from them.
At Borg & Overström, quality assurance is something we take extremely seriously. This is only possible through extremely stringent quality measures to ensure every product that leaves our factory meets the Borg & Overström standard. We are now going to give you an overview of the quality steps we take and why they are essential to our customer experience. Starting at the beginning, our suppliers. We hold all our suppliers to a very high standard as incoming parts and material quality is the base to allow us to build premium products. If we aren't using only the best high quality raw materials, we can't hope to create world class products at the end of the production line. This means our quality testing starts before we receive our goods in. Our suppliers are required to supply quality testing documents along with goods batches to ensure items being shipped to us meet our specification. We then perform our own goods in inspection. We check all our suppliers' deliveries with enhanced checks if required on critical components. If an item doesn't pass our goods in check, then it is escalated and reported back to the supplier. Even if it's a single part in a whole batch, we will then work with the supplier to ensure future batch quality is improved. Due to our near shored supply chain, this process is usually very quick, and quality improvements can be implemented within a few days of the escalation. Once items have passed the goods in inspection, they are free to be picked and enter the sub assembly line. There are around fourteen cells or stations within the build stage, and every one of those acts as a checkpoint for issues to be raised if necessary. Once parts reach the sub assembly line, items picked for the build are then quality checked again before being assembled. At this point, we are testing electrical parts and checking items like body panels and tap faucets for any sign of damage or less than satisfactory finish. We mitigate human error or variances at this stage with the use of jigs and master samples to ensure every product coming off the sub assembly line is as expected. After the sub assembly stage, the main build stage starts. The previously completed work from the subassembly line is now checked again and can be resolved or replaced immediately if required. The modularity of our products and our ProCore system as a whole means that the checkpoints along the build are very similar no matter what product or dispense options are present. This further reduces the frequency of mistakes on the line as technicians only work with one product architecture. Once the product completes this stage of the build, we have a fully functioning product, which can now be fully tested before being packed and ready for shipping. As part of our functionality testing, we electrical test the product to ensure it is safe to use and powers up. We first do an earth continuity test. This is the first time electricity is sent through the product to ensure it's safe to use and the earth functions correctly. Then the products go through full functional wet testing. The dispenser is powered up and water run through the unit. The DryChill block and hot tank are tested to make sure they reach temperature and the water is dispensed through all water pathways. We check for any leaks during the wet test to ensure all seals and pipework is secure. The water used on the line is a sterilization fluid which sanitizes the dispenser while it's being tested. Then finally, after testing, any remaining water in the system is expelled out using compressed dry air. This is important as it reduces any risk of bacteria buildup in the unit when in transit or in storage. The final stage before cleaning and packaging is a second round of electrical tests. The product goes through another earth test, resistance tests, high voltage tests, and checks for any power leakage. Every test is recorded and stored for future reference. A Borg & Overström dispenser can be rejected at any stage of the production line. Only if we are one hundred percent happy with the performance and appearance of the product is it allowed to be released for delivery to our customers. It's this attention to detail that keeps our out of box failure below zero point two percent. We don't just stop there, however. We conduct daily build audits to ensure the quality of our finished product meets our expectations. Every day, we do a product audit. This is when our dedicated quality team will take a unit off the line or from our stock of completed products to perform a series of more rigorous stress testing. The unit is powered on and used for an extended period of time and the level of finish is meticulously inspected. This leaves more time for any issues to develop and keeps our benchmark of quality at the highest of levels. There is also a daily in process audit for the production team. A member of our quality team will inspect the work of every stage on the production line to ensure the correct production processes and techniques are being followed and all subassemblies are in line with the master templates. Particular attention is made to issues that have recently cropped up to ensure current and future batches are problem free. Then finally, once a week, we undertake an independent water quality test from one of our completed dispensers. This is sent to a lab for testing for waterborne bacteria and pathogens. This ensures that we are not shipping products out of our factory that have a high risk of bacteria buildup and gives customers complete hygiene confidence from our products. These quality measures we take at every stage of production ensure our customers receive products that are consistently world class in performance and expert in their level of finish. The Maktens Borg mark signifies Borg & Overström authenticity and our commitment to quality around the world.
