Access to clean water is the foundation of a healthy and productive life; however, 771 million people still lack access to it. Since its inception, Made Blue has made over 15 billion litres of clean water available to those in need. Made Blue are a charity, who collaborate with over 500 companies to develop clean drinking water systems in underprivileged communities.
Water poverty affects people in many ways. Whilst many take clean, safe portable water as a given, 1 in 10 people still spend hours collecting water every day. As a result, many women and children who are walking very long distances to collect water do not have time to work or go to school. This means they do not get to earn money or become educated, trapping them in poverty. In addition to this, the water they do drink may not be sanitary and many die from drinking dirty, polluted water.
For just €2.50 the Made Blue Foundation provide one person with water for a year. They do this by investing in water infrastructure for communities in need, giving them access to clean water for the long-term and allowing women and children to go to work and school.
